The Town of Amite City is governed by a mayor and five city councilpersons. The mayor is elected every four years along with all five councilperson. Each councilperson represents a particular district within the Amite City incorporated town boundaries. Regular council meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Special meetings are held as needed.
